Butterfly Twists is delighted to collaborate with award-winning British jeweler Dominic Jones.
Renowned for his edgy no-fuss clean lines, Dominic Jones has created a collection of shoes influenced by Japanese 'wabi sabi' aesthetic, the acceptance of imperfection and incompleteness.
He has emulated the art of KINTSUGI, across 5 styles in a range of prints - HARMONY, HOPE, COURAGE, and WISDOM and created a collection of shoes featuring satin prints and gold threads, mimicking the process, some adorned with a sculpted heel.
KINTSUGI - PERFECTION IN IMPERFECTION
Translated as "golden joinery," Kintsugi (or Kintsukuroi, which means "golden repair") is the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a special lacquer dusted with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. This repair method celebrates each artifact's unique history emphasizing its fractures and breaks instead of hiding or disguising them. Kintsugi often makes the repaired piece even more beautiful than the original, revitalizing it with new life.
Colorful, rich, and abundant, satin prints appear mended and pieced together with embroidery. Each silhouette is individually designed with a complimentary embroidery, and the random appearance mimics the KINTSUGI method of repair, giving each print its unique appearance.
